Welcome to the Brightwalk neighborhood website! Situated just outside of Charlotte’s Uptown in the North End, Brightwalk is the master-planned redevelopment of Historic Double Oaks. Brightwalk is a mixed-income, mixed-use neighborhood with single-family homes, townhomes and rental apartments. Master-developer, The Housing Partnership, built The McNeel, The Alexander and The Stevenson Apartments. The single-family homes and townhomes were built by Cal-Atlantic (formerly Standard Pacific). The neighborhood has two county-owned parks – Anita Stroud Park and Double Oaks Park. Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church is located in the neighborhood as well as New Life Church, which is pastored by Grammy-nominated gospel artist, John P Kee. The neighborhood has early childhood education options with its five-star KidzPlace Academy which is the redeveloped former Double Oaks Nursery, originally built in 1968. A partnership with the McColl Center for Art + Innovation has benefited Brightwalk as art and environment combined to produce an outdoor ecological experience for visitors. Renowned artists engaged the community in the creation and installation of four works of environmental art: Love Motels for Insects (butterfly wings), Adventure Playground, Scuppernong Commons and the Anita Stroud Park Rain Garden. This website is for residents and visitors alike. So enjoy yourself and reach out if you have any questions.
